A Lunch Theatre Treat!
The Mill at Sonning was a real gem of a Lunch Theatre and our first visit did not disappoint. In fact, it was such a lovely venue and such a professional, fun performance, that a booking for THE HOUNDS of the BASKERVILLES in March 2018 was immediately booked, and almost sold out, the same evening!
The History: The mill was empty until 1977. It was then that Tim and Eileen Richards, who had a great love of theatre, found the derelict building and decided to convert it into The Mill as it is today. The transformation took four years to complete, with the Mill at Sonning Dinner Theatre opening on 22 July 1982.
Who better to direct, what is arguably Agatha Christie’s most enthralling and entertaining thriller than Brian Blessed. The Mill at Sonning was delighted to welcome back National Treasure and giant of the theatre – this indomitable man!
The Performance: “Suppose I were to come downstairs one morning and find a dead body lying here, what would I do?” wonders Clarissa. And lo and behold, as is the way with all good Agatha Christie thrillers, she soon finds out.
Clarissa has a vivid imagination but not even she could be prepared for the moment she stumbles upon a bloody corpse. Desperate to dispose of the body before her husband comes home with an important foreign politician – a man on his way to secret talks at 10 Downing Street! – Clarissa persuades her three house guests to become accessories and accomplice… and the plot thickens …..!
The web of deceit becomes even more tangled as a mysterious phone call tips off the police and brings the determined Inspector Lord to the scene. Clarissa soon realises he is convinced that one of them is the killer and finds her talent for storytelling put to the test as she fights to keep her friends and family from suspicion. At the same time her own life is in dire danger as the search for the real murderer comes closer and closer to being revealed.
It was an exceptional performance with a great cast and brilliant acting throughout. We recognised several of the cast rom TV, film and stage …………….

What Our Customers Are Saying
Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!
We so enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday Lin, and it was a “mystery” right up until 3pm – well done. I’m so glad I found Solent Events. It’s so much more fun going with other like-minded people & takes the responsibility out of driving.Maureen Colyer
