Alongside the exciting tours we have planned for you, including the Big Pit coalmine, you will have ample time to relax and take advantage of everything this beautiful resort has to offer from its world renowned Spa to its two award-winning Golf courses , PLUS experience a BRAND NEW Agatha Christie thriller, Mirror Crack’d, at the New Theatre, Cardiff – included in this wonderful Short Break with Solent Events on Tour!
You will also have the opportunity of visiting the impressive ROYAL MINT to see just how our new £1 coins are made, a BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR of the spectacular Cardiff Millennium Centre by the waterfront and the chance to eat lunch at THE CLINK, HM PRISON CARDIFF !
Whilst exploring the valleys and Brecon Beacons, we will learn about the fascinating mining communities before the collapse of heavy industry and the mine closures of the late 1960s & 1980s, during our visits to Big Pit and the Miners Monument at Six Bells village.
You really do not have to worry about a thing. From the time you book until the time you arrive home, you will be looked after by Solent Events on Tour owner, Lin Wilson, who will even supply you with a handy packing list to suit your holiday in the sun!
For your comfort, a minimum of 20 and a maximum number of 25 passengers will apply to this exclusive Solent Events Tour (the normal maximum for coach company tours being 50!).

An Exclusive Solent Events Tour!
Proposed Itinerary (exact times to be confirmed)
Day 1 – Morning departure leaving from Coliseum Coach Depot, Southampton; with pick-ups at Stokes Bay, Gosport; Lee on the Solent; Stubbington & Peak Lane, Fareham. Leave our last pick-up around 0900 with comfort/lunch stop en-route over the Severn Bridge.
Arrive at our 4* Vale Spa & Golf Resort in the afternoon. Free time to explore & relax OR the chance to visit the Royal Mint and see how our new £1 coin is made! (See Event Reservations Form). Dinner in the hotel.
Day 2 – After breakfast in the hotel, we will meet in reception for our guided tours of the stunning Brecon Beacons, the rolling Welsh Valleys, Big Pit Museum, with the chance to go ‘underground’ (See Event Reservations Form), Six Bells Village with the incredible Miners Monument and more.
Dinner in the hotel.
** Day 3 – A leisurely breakfast in the hotel, with ½ day to relax leisure in the Hotel Health & Racquets Club (complimentary) or pamper yourself with a Spa Treatment or play a round of golf (pre-book and pay locally – see below)! Lunch will be taken in the hotel.
After lunch, travel to Cardiff for a guided coach & walking tour, with an evening meal at leisure near Cardiff Castle, before taking our BEST seats at the nearby New Theatre for Agatha’s Christie’s Mirror Crack’d at 7.30pm. Coach back to hotel.
DAY 4 – After a leisurely breakfast, we will depart the hotel for the short journey and to view the impressive Cardiff Millennium Centre, the Norwegian Church and the bustling Cardiff Waterfront. Lunch will be taken at leisure in this area, or you may want to join us for an unusual Lunch experience at HM Prison Cardiff, in The Clink Restaurant (See Event Reservations Form), before heading back home, if they let us out that is!!

The Clink Restaurant, HM Prison Cardiff - Sample Lunch Menu
If you would like to experience stylish fine-dining in a lovely restaurant run by prison inmates, serving dishes made with organic Welsh produce, then this is your chance!
During our last day in Cardiff, we will spend time around the Millennium Centre and Cardiff’s impressive waterfront. The Clink is just a few minutes away by coach if you would like to join us. A £15 deposit is required and of course they do get very busy, which is why we need to reserve places beforehand.
The prisoners serving in The Clink Restaurant and cooking in the kitchen are actually working towards gaining the accredited City & Guilds National Vocational Qualification in Food & Beverage Service, Professional Cookery & Food Hygiene. A big thank you from the prison for choosing The Clink , as by doing so, you are giving students the valuable experience they require.
