Glorious in Winter at
HIGHGROVE GARDENS

February 2020

LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!

As part of HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall’s private residence, The Royal Gardens at Highgrove are opened annually for visitors to share in their enjoyment of this much-loved inspirational setting.

Solent Events & Leisure have visited Highgrove several times in 3 of the 4 seasons, but not so far in the winter! It appears that Highgrove may re-open to the public in February, so thinking about those crisp, bright, cold days in a UK winter, a stroll through the snowdrops, Helebores and colourful Dogwoods (cornus) at Highgrove would make the perfect Away-Day!

Created with imagination and passion by the Prince over the last 38 years, the series of interlinked organic gardens reflect his deep commitment to sustainability, as well as a natural artistic ability. As an important haven for a rich variety of flora and fauna, the gardens have been developed to not only please the eye, but sit in succinct harmony with nature.

You can normally experience the gardens’ seasonal highlights between April and October each year to discover how the Prince has transformed a landscape, which was once merely lawn, into an ever-changing canvas of magnificent garden scenes.

From the classic order of the Cottage Garden to the pastoral beauty of the Wildflower Meadow, discover these unique spaces, along with hidden curios and horticultural innovations, on a tour that offers a personal perspective of this much-admired public figure.

One of my great joys is to see the pleasure that the garden brings to many visitors and that everybody seems to find some part of it that is special to them.” HRH The Prince of Wales.

The winter season will offer a 75-minute guided tour instead of the normal 2-hour tour of these beautiful gardens and if available, you will be treated to a superb lunch in the Orchard Restaurant.

For the perfect end to a perfect day, a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles will be served en route home!

PLEASE NOTE: As Highgrove is a Royal residence and due to security regulations, all visitors must bring a form of photographic ID with them on the day, ideally a passport, driving license or bus pass. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR COMPANIONS ARE ALSO  INFORMED.

Highgrove is The Prince of Wales’s private home and the use of mobile phones, cameras, binoculars and all recording equipment is prohibited. Please leave such items at home, on the coach, or switched off inside your bag.

You are advised to wear sturdy footwear/walking boots and wrap up warm! Please note that there are no seating facilities in the gardens.

As the grounds are uneven, unmade and bumpy in places, this tour is not advisable for those with mobility difficulties.

ONCE FULLY ADVERTISED, YOU ARE ADVISED TO BOOK YOUR PLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as we are sure this tour will sell very quickly. IF YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED, PLEASE LET US KNOW SOON!

What Our Customers Are Saying

Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!

We so enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday Lin, and it was a “mystery” right up until 3pm – well done. I’m so glad I found Solent Events. It’s so much more fun going with other like-minded people & takes the responsibility out of driving.

Dear Lin, Thank you for sending the photographs from ‘Collabro’ at the BIC. We had a lovely first outing with Solent Events. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it.

Hi Lin, Just a quick thank you from us both for arranging such a brilliant day yesterday. We had such a lovely time and the hi-light for us was the steam train trip! Looking forward to the next Mystery Tour
