Day 2 – On arrival in Delhi, we will be transferred to our hotel before a sightseeing tour of Old Dehli, strolling through the street bazaar of Chandni Chowk, seeing the marble domes of the Jama Masjid Mosque and a visit to the Gandhi Smriti Museum and Hu’ayun’s Tomb.

Friday 01 November                        Agra                      B, D
Day 3 Our day is filled with wonderful experiences, starting with a short tour of Paharganj, in central Delhi. We’ll do this in the company of former street children, who now work with the Salaam Baalak Trust. This charity equips the youngsters with a range of skills and helps them to better their lives. It is a most inspiring insight into how the children have had their lives transformed. After a city tour of New Delhi, where highlights include the India Gate, Parliament House and the Qutub Minar, a soaring sandstone tower, we will travel by road to our next base, Agra, an wonderful opportunity to take in the sights of everyday countryside Indian life.

Saturday 02 November                    Agra                      B, D
Day 4 – Today we will see one of India’s most famous landmarks, the incredible Taj Mahal. This mausoleum on the banks of the Yamuna River was built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz. It’s a sight that will take your breath away!. Close by is Mehtab Bagh, a centuries-old garden complex, which sits on the other side of the river and is exactly aligned with this iconic masterpiece. We’ll get to see an alternative view of the Taj Mahal from here. Later, we will visit the red-sandstone Agra Fort.

Sunday 03 November                       Ranthambore      B, D
Day 5 – After breakfast, we’ll drive to the deserted, but fascinating city of Fatehpur Sikri for a stroll through its pavilions and palaces. We will then travel by train to Modhopur, and transfer from here by road to Ranthambore. So exciting!

Monday 04 November                      Ranthambore      B, L, D
Day 6 – An memorable day is on the cards, with morning and afternoon safaris in Ranthambore National Park, said to be the best game reserve in India. We’ll make our way through thick forest interspersed with pretty waterfalls, which provides the perfect habitat for more than 300 species of birds. With the help of a Local Guide we’ll look for wildlife including crocodile, hyena, jackal and more. If we’re lucky we may spot the elusive tiger or the even rarer leopard.

Tuesday 05 November                     Jaipur                   B, L, D
Day 7 – Our grand tour continues this morning as we drive to the famous ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, with a stop en route in the village of Abhaneri. Here we’ll admire the unique carved stepwells, an ancient water storage system constructed to provide a water supply during dry periods.

Day 8 – Jaipur’s City Palace is our destination this morning, with the elaborate façade of the Palace of the Winds – just one more highlight of this exotic tour.

Thursday 07 November                  Bangalore            B, D
Day 9 – A morning of discovery takes us to the Amber Fort, a 17th century stronghold set high on a hill above the parched desert. We will step inside to see the Temple of Kali, the Palace of Mirrors and the Hall of Pleasures.
In the afternoon, we’ll fly to Bangalore. If you choose to head out to explore, you will find many western-style bars and restaurants as well as traces of the city’s former British colonial past.

Friday 08 November                        Hassan                 B, D
Day 10 – We’re heading west to Hassan today. This is the oldest town in the region of Karnataka, and it is located close to one of India’s coffee-growing areas. We will spend the afternoon exploring the temple towns of Belur and Halebid on an included excursion. 

Saturday 09 November                    Coorg                   B, D
Day 11 – En route to Coorg this morning, we’ll drive into the heart of coffee country. We’re going to spend the afternoon at the Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe, which is home to monasteries and temples including the spectacular Golden Temple.

Sunday 10 November                       Coorg                   B, D
Day 12 A day of discovery starts with a visit to Madikeri Fort, Omkareshwara Temple and Abbey Falls. Later, we’ll find out all about coffee production on a plantation tour.

Monday 11 November                      Mysore                 B, D
Day 13 – The fabled city of Mysore is our next destination. We will head out on a wonderful tour this afternoon, with spectacular sights including the opulent city palace.

Tuesday 12 November                     Cochin                  B, D
Day 14 – We’re going to head back to Bangalore by road today. En route we’ll visit Srirangapatnam, the island fortress of the warrior King Tipu Sultan. From Bangalore we’ll fly to Cochin, in the beautiful region of Kerala. 

Wednesday 13 November                Cochin                  B, L, D
Day 15 – We’ll get to know Cochin today, on a morning tour with highlights including the Jewish Quarter, the Dutch Palace and St Francis Church. This is where Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama was originally buried. A wonderful treat today is a cookery demonstration, with lunch included, and we’ll also see a display of Kathakali classical dancing.

Thursday 14 November    Kovalam Beach area         B, D
Day 16 – Kovalam is our final base for a few days before heading home, but en route we will enjoy a relaxing cruise on Kerala’s tranquil palm-fringed backwaters. Heaven!

Friday 15 November Kovalam Beach area   B, D
Day 17 – Our 4* Travancore Heritage Hotel in Kovalam is just the place to choose some ‘me’ time – on the beach, relaxing by the pool or having a massage. 

Saturday 16 November                    Mumbai/UK          B, D
Day 18 – Today we’ll fly to Mumbai, where there’s time for an exciting short tour of this fascinating city, with dinner before we transfer you to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

Sunday 17 November                       UK

ay 19 – We’ll arrive back in the UK today with a waiting coach transfer back to our home area.
