THE KING & I
Wednesday 19 September 2018
Matinee 2pm – 5 places left!
Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna, a British schoolteacher. The modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings Anna to Siam to teach his many wives and children …. This is the greatest musical from the golden age of theatre, and we at Solent Events are giving you this unique opportunity to sample its delights in comfort and in style at an affordable price!
With a superior score of treasured songs including; Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, and Shall We Dance, and featuring a company of over 50 world-class performers, The King and I is a testament to the lavish heritage of gloriously romantic musical theatre.
Making their West End debuts are the original Broadway stars; reprising her Tony Award-winning performance, Kelli O’Hara (Anna), Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (The King), and reprising her Tony Award-winning performance, Ruthie Ann Miles (Lady Thiang). Fresh from London’s critical smash hit production of Oslo, director Bartlett Sher reunites the original creative team of Catherine Zuber (Tony Award winner for Best Costume), set designer Michael Yeargan, lighting designer Donald Holder, sound designer Scott Lehrer and choreography by Christopher Gattelli based on the original choreography by Jerome Robbins.
Due to phenomenal demand, the multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King And I has been extended and is now showing at the iconic London Palladium until 29 September 2018 .

We so enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday Lin, and it was a “mystery” right up until 3pm – well done. I’m so glad I found Solent Events. It’s so much more fun going with other like-minded people & takes the responsibility out of driving.Maureen Colyer
