We stood in awe at the incredible sight of thousands of Terracotta Warriors during our Solent Events tour to China in 2012, but if you were unable to join us, now is your chance to see these incredible ‘hand sculptured’ soldiers, in the UK!
As at 12 April – ONLY A FEW PLACES AVAILABLE!
We will be staying in one of Liverpool’s impressive new hotels, the 4-star Pullman Liverpool Hotel (‘fashionable Lodging with refined dining’!), located at Kings Dock on the city’s world famous waterfront and just a 5 minute walk from the vibrant Albert Dock. This 216 bedroom hotel is one of the most stylish, upscale hotels in the city, with panoramic views of the famous River Mersey and Albert Dock, the largest group of Grade 1 listed buildings in Britain. We will be on a bed, breakfast and dinner tariff, when our every need will be met to the highest of standards. From breakfast to lunch, dinner to snack, Pullman provides balanced food choices 24/7, with its contemporary atmosphere and blend of both traditional & modern influences, every meal is a special occasion.
The hotel is also situated close to the Tate Liverpool, The Beatles Story, National Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum to name but a few. Just a short walk to Liverpool One and the city centre.
Liverpool was one of the few English cities shackled by reputation, but none has worked so hard to outgrow the clichés that for so long have been used to define it. A hardscrabble town with a reputation for wit and an obsessive love of football, Liverpool also has an impressive cultural heritage: it has more listed buildings than any other city outside London, its galleries and museums are among the best in the country, and its ongoing program of urban regeneration is slowly transforming the city centre into one of the most pleasant cities in northern England to have a wander in.
WHAT TO DO IN LIVERPOOL
Of course there were the Beatles: Liverpool cherishes them not because they’re wedded to the past but because the Beatles are such a central part of the tourist experience that it would be crazy not to do so. Besides The Cavern & The Hard Days Night Hotel (20 mins walk), the Albert Dock (12 minute walk) and the trendy Ropewalks area (18 minute walk) are great places to visit.
To get a real feel for Liverpool past and present, FREE museums and galleries, such as the World Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Sudley House, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the International Slavery Museum and the Museum of Liverpool, are all within easy walking distance of The Pullman Hotel.
Showcasing objects from one of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries, this unmissable exhibition which opens at the National World Museum in Liverpool on 09 February 2018, spans almost 1,000 years of Chinese history; from the conflicts and chaos of the Warring States period in China, to the achievements and legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties.
The exhibition will include a number of objects that have never been on show in the UK before including material from museums and institutes from across Shaanxi Province, excavated over the last 40 years from the Imperial Mausoleum and selected tombs. These spectacular artefacts will shed light on the Emperor’s pursuit of immortality and show how he prepared for the afterlife, as well as help us to understand more about everyday life in China more than two thousand years ago.
