 Matinee peformance 3pm

For the last 42 years, out of it’s 67 years of running, the St Martin’s Theatre has been the home of The Mousetrap and if you have never experienced being in the audience, you haven’t lived!! The Mousetrap is an intriguing murder mystery play by Agatha Christie.

Agatha Christie’s great play has been thrilling audiences from around the world for as long as HRH Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne and on 25 November 2017, Mousetrap celebrated its 65th birthday.
During this phenomenal 66 year run there have been no fewer than 474 actors and actresses appearing in the play, 279 understudies, 142 miles of shirts have been ironed and over 500 tons of ice cream sold.

The play is set in England, at the Great Hall of Monkswell Manor. The time is listed as “the present,” which, at the time of its initial publication, would be the early 1950s.
The story opens with the sounds of the murder of Maureen Lyon, before moving to the Manor. It’s recently been renovated into a guest house by Mollie and Giles Ralston. Mollie waits for the guests to arrive, listening to a radio report about the murder. The report states that police are looking for a man in a dark overcoat who was observed near the scene. A note had been left on the body claiming there were “three blind mice” who would be murdered, and the name Monkswell Manor was also on the note. Sergeant Trotter believes that someone at the manor had a connection of some sort to the murder victim. The murderer, he says, may well be among them, even now.

Whilst in London why not take the rare opportunity of sampling the delights of the original, famous The Ivy Restaurant opposite the theatre! Menus are reasonably priced and a pre-theatre table d’hote menu is normally available. Booking advised!

The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since its foundation in 1917. The Covent Garden restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of glamour – now more than ever after a triumphant redesign in 2015 by the acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. With its shimmering central dining bar, signature harlequin stained-glass windows, oak panelling and striking contemporary art collection, the longevity of this most British restaurant is ensured. Renowned for its food, Executive Chef Gary Lee creates balanced seasonal lunch and dinner menus that place the Ivy classics alongside a contemporary global palette, incorporating more Asian dishes, salads and vegetables, and a “sea and shells” section. Meanwhile, Director Fernando Peire and his experienced team deliver the unfaltering service for which The Ivy has become celebrated for worldwide, over the years and it’s where celebrities like to be seen!     Check out their menus: https://www.the-ivy.co.uk/

What Our Customers Are Saying

Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!

We so enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday Lin, and it was a “mystery” right up until 3pm – well done. I’m so glad I found Solent Events. It’s so much more fun going with other like-minded people & takes the responsibility out of driving.
