ISLE of WIGHT SHORT BREAK

Our own little Island in the Sun .....
Monday 14 September - 3 days | 2 nights
WE SOLD OUT ..... IT WAS A FANTASTIC BREAK & WE'RE NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO VIENNA IN DECEMBER!

After the trials and tribulations of the past few months, this is your chance to catch with old friends and have a relaxing 3-day ‘staycation’ just across the water on the sunny Isle of Wight! No hassle. No passport. No Covid. Just great company, great food but – no great distance to travel!

We all need something to look forward to and if you’ve never ventured across the Solent to our own little Island in the Sun, or you haven’t been for many years, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this little adventure!

We will ensure you see as much of this beautiful island as possible during our 3-day stay, but as you can appreciate, at the time of booking, attractions were only just starting to open their doors again, so I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave the final itinerary up to us – hence the ‘Mystery’ Excursions!

You can be sure that you will  see the very best of the island – including The Needles; Alum Bay; Cowes; Yarmouth and Osborne House (currently  only the gardens are open, but we are confident the house will be open very soon).

We will stay for 2-nights at the elegant, family run, Bourne Hall Country House Hotel in Shanklin. Originally built in the late 1860’s, for one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting, the ‘house’ still retains its  sense of history, whilst providing comfortable accommodation, suitably enhanced by its original Victorian features.

Uniquely located on an elevated position at the foot of Luccombe Downs, this typical Isle of Wight country hotel benefits from both countryside and coastal vistas.
The Hotel enjoys exquisite views, by day and night across Sandown, Shanklin Bay and onwards to Culver Downs. Please note that the hotel is on a hill.

Situated a few minutes walk from Shanklin ‘old village’ this 30 bedroom hotel offers a range of classic, premier, family rooms & suites. The Bourne also boasts the stylish Cameron restaurant a relaxing bar and extensive leisure facilities & treatment rooms. NB. the hotel has 3 floors but does not have a lift. There are just a few rooms on the ground floor, so these are limited and allocated on a 1st come, 1st served basis. However, we do have a porterage service included.

All rooms feature en suite facilities, Freeview TV, CD player, tea/coffee making facilities. Rooms have a countryside, courtyard or sea view.

Located within the grounds, adjacent to the outdoor swimming pool, is the indoor leisure complex open daily from 8am until 8pm for hotel residents, leisure members and their guests. Recently refurbished it features an indoor heated swimming pool (40ft by 10ft), a Jacuzzi, and a ‘far’ infra-red sauna. The pool is maintained at a warm, comfortable temperature of 29 degrees C, ideal for a few exhilarating lengths to start the day!

After an exciting day touring the island, you could sink into the bubbling warm waters of a Jacuzzi bath, letting the jets massage those tired muscles ….. then enjoy the health benefits of a sauna! Feel cleansed, exhilarated and ready to enjoy the evening with your friends.

Pamper yourself with a wide range of beauty therapies & treatments in the Beauty Room for both ladies & gentlemen. These include organic luxury facials, aromatherapy massages, body & heat treatments, manicures, pedicures and make-overs. Professional therapists can advise the treatments best suited to your individual needs and can work alongside conventional medicine. When our tour time schedule is finalised, you are recommended to book prior to arrival. Tel: 01983 862820

Luxuriate in extra lavish Holistic treatments, therapies and pampering sessions with our beauty therapist. See Relax & Pamper Treatment price list.

Adhering to current government guidelines, our coach company, Coliseum Coaches, are restricting the number of occupied seats on a 53-seater to 37. For your comfort and safety, we will have a maximum of 30 for this tour.

Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis, and parties will be seated together as far as possible.  Your preferred choice will of course be taken into consideration, but cannot be guaranteed, unless you are a Privilege Club member.

Your safety:
Rest assured, I visited the hotel on 25 July and am very happy with the safety protocols in place.
I am sure you will be too. At the time of writing, (27 July) the IOW is Covid free, and has been for over 2-weeks.

To ensure that we are completely up to date with procedures, full Covid-19 safety measures required during our Short Break – on the coach, at our hotel and during tour visits, will be highlighted in your Travel Pack or during the tour, but please see end of the ITINERARY tab for protocols already in place at the Bourne Hall Hotel in preparation for our visit.

In the meantime, to keep us all safe and to prevent you/your party from becoming ill or carrying the virus before or during your holiday with Solent Events, you are advised to keep strictly to the current Government guidelines in the coming weeks.

We suggest you do this by:
+ Avoiding crowded places and people you don’t know (especially teenagers who mix with lots of other people)
+ Keeping at least 2-metres apart from other people OR 1-metre whenever possible
+ Meeting friends and family outside in the fresh air whenever possible

+ Wearing a facemask whilst in any enclosed space with other people
+ Wearing a facemask in ALL shops

'Provisional' Itinerary

You will no doubt appreciate that due to the UK Leisure Industry’s gradual introduction to receiving tourists after Lockdown, the times stated in the itinerary remain ‘provisional’ until nearer the time of departure.
We will also leave the excursions as a ‘Mystery Tour’ because as you can appreciate, attractions are only slowly opening up to groups, so ‘forward planning’ is a bit more difficult than usual.

HOTEL COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

RESTAURANT – Dinner
Seating will commence at around 6.30 with food service from 7 pm. All drinks, cutlery, crockery etc will be served to the table. We will all be able to eat together because we will be travelling as a group and classed as a ‘bubble’. The hotel therefore kindly requests our patience with the restaurant team during service, as previously mentioned, everything will need to be served to the table at present and there will be 30 of us

ROOMS
To reduce risk to guests,  under the current restrictions the hotel is not able to offer daily room servicing. They apologise for this inconvenience, but most guests prefer this policy under the current circumstances

SPA TREATMENTS
The hotel requests that all  guests contact the hotel direct to book individual treatments. Their therapist is free-lance and is therefore not employed by the hotel so is not based continuously on site.

POOLS
At time of writing, the outdoor pool is open, but the indoor leisure facilities are closed at present, due to inability to practice the current government guidelines. obviously this MAY change before our arrival.
