It’s the chance to have a wonderful pre-Christmas UK mini-break to experience the biggest & the BEST Christmas Show in the UK (and Europe!) and this year, it was also the chance to see the best of East Anglia, enjoying excellent food and relaxing for a three days in friendly & fun company!
The Thursford Christmas Spectacular is an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. It’s a fast moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites. It is so popular with our Solent Events clients and their friends, that this was our 6th visit since 2010!
“If you have not joined us before to this wonderful Christmas show, we know you will just LOVE it, especially as we will also visit places in parts of Norfolk and Suffolk you may never have been to before. Not only will we stop lunch and an optional scenic Winter Walk on the way up, but we will also have short visits to a Christmas Market at Norwich (when confirmed) during our stay. We will once again stay at the beautiful 4* Dunston Hall Hotel, which offers luxurious & lavish accommodation set in picturesque surroundings
Our journey home begins with a tour of East Anglia, taking in the coastal towns of Yarmouth and Lowestoft, heading back inland through small villages such as Beccles, Bungay and Flixton plus the medieval village of Lavenham with its colourful little crooked houses.
We will stop for lunch at the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, where its abbey was once one of the richest and most powerful Benedictine monasteries in England – and where your host, Lin, was born!”
The DUNSTON HALL HOTEL is an imposing red brick country house hotel set in 150 acres of beautiful wooded Norfolk parkland.
From the warmth of your welcome to the serenity of the time spent in the Spa. By the time you leave, you will have a real sense of belonging at Dunston Hall. Now operated by the Q Hotels group (previously De Vere), Dunston Hall forms part of their collection of 26 four-star luxury hotels across the UK.
This majestic Elizabethan-style mansion, built in 1859, has been lovingly restored to all its former glory. Erected against 150 acres of stunning wooded Norfolk parkland, the setting is just as unique as its history. Dunston is on the river Tas and records of the village extend back several centuries, but records show that nearly all the parishioners died of the plague in 1349. In the 19th Century, the ‘Long’ family owned the land and lordship of the manor passed from father to son over the generations. 150 acres of wooded land from the Estate were sold off in 1859 and unusually for the time, an Elizabethan-style country retreat was built by the new owners. The beautiful red brick mansion was well maintained, but when purchased by De Vere Hotels, it was sympathetically restored and extended to create an imposing hotel in beautiful grounds.
You will have plenty of time to unwind in the luxurious Spa, swim in the delightful pool and indulge yourself with a blissful beauty treatment. You may even feel like releasing those endorphins in the state of the art gym! You are welcome to use all facilities whilst staying in the hotel.Total relaxation!
