EXPERIENCE THIS ‘WOW’ VENUE WITH US!!
Following four sell-out Christmas seasons, Antic Disposition’s much-loved musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens festive classic, A Christmas Carol, returns to the spectacular Elizabethan setting of Middle Temple Hall in London for just 10-days from 21-30 December 2019.
It’s hard to think of a more appropriate show to watch on a cold December day in London, especially during the ‘lull’ between Christmas and New Year! One of Dicken’s masterpieces, A Christmas Carol is a natural classic for this time of the year, and contributed to creating the very notion of Christmas as we have known it for the past 174 years.
Antic Disposition’s production is a wonderful treat, aided by the fantastic choice of location – the astonishing City of London gem, Middle Temple Hall. It is impossible to ignore the history of this place, opened in 1576 by Queen Elizabeth I, The hundreds of ghosts that seem to inhabit the hall, its coats of arms and its empty suits of armour seem to watch us from each and every corner of the building. The Dickensian streets of Temple give the impression that you’ve literally transported back to the time and place where Dickens penned many of his most beloved stories, including said Novella.
First staged in 2012 and firmly established as one of London’s most magical Christmas treats, this joyous festive celebration combines the ghostly tale of Ebenezer Scrooge with original songs inspired by the carols of a traditional Victorian Christmas.
Step off the bustle of Fleet Street and journey through cobbled alleyways and gas-lit courtyards, to arrive at the hidden historical gem Middle Temple Hall – a location well-known to Charles Dickens himself, who studied law at the ancient institution.
Those of you who joined our excellent LEGAL LONDON Away-Day Guided Tour in January 2013 may remember we had a delicious lunch in the magical and historic surroundings of Middle Temple Hall, with all those barristers sitting on the top table at the end!
Decked with boughs of holly, filled with the scent of mulled wine and mince pies and brimming with festive cheer, enter the magnificent wood-panelled hall and immerse yourself in this joyous adaptation of the beloved Charles Dickens Christmas classic.
