The Mill is delighted to announce that Brian Blessed is once again directing a play. Not our usual Agatha Christie this time, but her equal in crime novelists – Dorothy L. Sayers. Be prepared for mystery, comedy, love & drama!
The great Dorothy L. Sayers is considered by many to be the premier detective novelist of the Golden Age! Her dashing sleuth, Lord Peter Wimsey is one of mystery fiction’s most enduring and endearing protagonists.
Acclaimed author Ruth Rendell has expressed her admiration for Sayers’s work, praising her “great fertility of invention, ingenuity, and wonderful eye for detail.”
The fourth Dorothy L. Sayers classic to feature mystery writer Harriet Vane. In Busman’s Honeymoon, Harriet and her love, Lord Peter, have finally tied the knot but begin their married life together on an unexpectedly sour note when a body is discovered in the cellar of their romantic country estate.
Lord Peter Wimsey, an uppercrust sleuth – has married his lovely fiancee, Harriet Vane, but his honeymoon bliss is shattered when the dead body of the house’s previous owner turns up in the cellar.
Please don’t miss the chance of visiting one of our Solent Events’ favourite small theatres in the country situated right next to George Clooney’s house at Sonning Eye on the Thames. George and his wife Amal are also patrons of the theatre and are often seen in the audience at the Mill.
On arrival, you will be dropped off in the car park, right in front of the theatre – so very little walking!
As the sun does not set until 7pm, you will have time to take a stroll along the river opposite, or relax with a drink in the unique Watermill Bar, or on the small patio, before dinner.
A delicious 2-course meal (hot buffet – with table service for dessert, drinks, tea and coffee) will be served in the restaurant on the first floor (a small lift is available on request if required),
Tickets always sell fast for this venue, so it is advisable to book as soon as possible – they also make great gifts and as it is the most delightful theatre, we’re sure you will be as enthralled as we always are!
Another thriller ‘whodunnit’ at the Mill which promises to fill the theatre with thrills and humour ….. so don’t miss it!
