We were delighted when The Mill at Sonning re-opened their much missed theatre on 30 October for a Winter Season of Comedy, Magic, Cabarets, small shows and talks ….. until Lockdown 2 was announced. Thankfully, we did manage to get to see Christmas Crackers though!!
Now we’re all in Tier 4, it has just been announced that our January 23rd date will be postponed until Saturday 20 March, so at least we still have something fantastic to look forward to when we come out of this current situation!
All shows come with a delicious À La Carte Lunch in the beautiful 2-tiered restaurant.
The team at The Mill have been working hard to ensure that all measures have been put in place to make our visit as safe as possible. Indeed, the restaurant has been open for a few months so you may like to read some comments from happy customers:

Presented by Manhattan Music, Stephen Triffit & Mark Adams from The Definitive Rat Pack – the original cast members of The Rat Pack: Live from Las Vegas in London’s West End, take to the stage to portray the greatest crooners of all time, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. They’ll be joined by two musicians, including pianist Toby Cruse. What a treat!
Songs include all our favourites: Come Fly With Me, That’s Amore, One For My Baby, Everybody Loves Somebody, Fly Me To The Moon, King Of The Road, My Way and Mack The Knife.
Tickets now include a Two Course À La Carte Meal with an Appetiser plus tea & coffee.
Please remember that you will be required to wear a face mask or visor when entering and moving within the building. You will also need to wear your face-mask or face-covering in the theatre, but will be allowed to remove it when safely seated at your restaurant table.
I think we are all used to this by now and it has actually become ‘a way of life’!
You definitely don’t want to miss the chance of visiting Solent Events’ favourite small theatre in the country, situated right next to George Clooney’s house on the Thames at Sonning Eye. George and his wife Amal are patrons of the theatre and have hugely supported them in the past few months and they are often seen in the audience at the Mill.
As we can currently only accommodate 37 on our 53-seater luxury coach and the theatre is limited to just 70 guests, be sure to book your place as soon as possible.
On arrival, we will be dropped off in the car park, right in front of the theatre – so there is very little walking!
A delicious appetiser, 2-course meal and tea and coffee will be served at your table in the restaurant on the first floor, where the theatre is also situated. (NB. a small lift is available on request – if required).
Tickets always sell fast for this venue, especially at this time I would suspect, so it is advisable to book as soon as possible. It is the most delightful theatre, we’re sure you will be as enthralled as we always are!

NB. Coach seats are currently filled on a first come first served basis from the back forward at each pick-up to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions. Face coverings to be worn when boarding and on the coach at all times. Hands will be sanitised onboard and when alighting.
Couples & friends (up to 6) will normally be seated together if boarding together at the same pick-up. Solo travellers offside, couples/friends/bubbles of 2, nearside.

THE SAFETY OF OUR CUSTOMERS AND STAFF IS OUR UTMOST PRIORITY. WE THEREFORE HAVE A NUMBER OF SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE, INCLUDING:
There is no bar service so customers will be taken to a table in the Waterwheel Bar.
For the restaurant, customers will be given a time to arrive. Please arrive promptly so that we can safely distance all visitors into the building.
On arrival you will be offered hand sanitiser and have your temperature taken. If your temperature is over 38 degrees you will not be allowed to proceed into the restaurant or bar.
We will ask you to maintain a 2 metre distance between other guests and staff as much as possible.
Customers are asked to wear a face mask/covering until they are seated at their table.
At least 2 metres distance between each table in our spacious, airy restaurant and in the Waterwheel Bar.
Waiters & Waitresses will be wearing visors. They will bring your food and utensils to the end of the table and ask you to take them from there. When you have finished each course it will be appreciated if you can return your plates etc to the end of the table for the waiting staff to clear.
All waiting staff and chefs are constantly reminded to wash and sanitise their hands. On arriving at work all staff have their temperature taken.
Dedicated members of staff continuously cleaning surfaces such as tables, chairs and bathroom facilities.
EXITING & PAYMENT
Once you have finished your meal you will be guided to the exit following a one-way system.
