ST PANCRAS TOUR
Sunday 19 January 2020
PLEASE JOIN US BY LUXURY COACH ON THIS UNIQUE & HISTORIC TOUR TO LONDON IN JANUARY. VISIT THE SPECTACULAR TUTANKHMUN EXHIBITION at the equally spectacular Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea and in the afternoon join us on a unique and fascinating tour of St Pancras Station Renaissance Hotel.
The Tutankhamun exhibition includes 150 authentic objects from the original tomb of Tutankhamun and is the only exhibition to feature authentic objects from his tomb. The exhibition will ultimately travel to additional markets around the world before Tutankhamun’s objects go on permanent display at the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Egypt.
Unfortunately, the Funerary Mask is at its home at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and will eventually go on view with the entire Tutankhamun collection at the forthcoming Grand Egyptian Museum. It is a very popular object that travelled in the 1970s and many people have fond memories of it. Because it is such an iconic world treasure, the Egyptian government has decided it will never travel again so that it can remain for posterity.
The tour is self-guided so within Saatchi Gallery opening times, you may spend as much time as you like enjoying the exhibition. Optional Audio Guides can be booked at the time of booking (NB. they are more expensive to hire if booked on the day!). All floors have lifts and there is level access between the galleries on each floor. Photography is permitted within the exhibition, however not with a flash, due to the sensitive nature of the artefacts.
Time slots are between 10am & 4.30pm. We have the 12 noon slot. The average length of stay in between 60 and 90 minutes and there will be time for you to have lunch/shopping in Kings Road. The John Lewis Peter Jones is 2 minutes away in Sloane Square and there are numerous restaurants in the immediate area of Chelsea) after the tour, before boarding the coach for our St Pancras Station Tour.
ST PANCRAS RENAISSANCE HOTEL TOUR
One of London’s most eye-tickling buildings, the Gothic hotel fronting St Pancras station, is just as striking on the inside. London’s Gothic Masterpiece will be revealed to you with a unique and historic Tour of St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London.
St Pancras Station, which came to be known as the ‘cathedral of railways’, started operating in 1868 although to little fanfare, since it was still unfinished and many of the platforms were temporary structures. By then, construction of the Midland Grand Hotel next door was under way. It took a decade of restoration to uncover this Victorian masterpiece, that originally opened in 1873 to accommodate rail travellers through the St. Pancras Rail Station.
The fascinating story of the hotel’s rise, fall and rise again is brought to life during a 90-minute historic journey through the most spectacular parts of the former Midland Grand Hotel. From the characters involved in its creation to the challenges faced by the restoration team, all of them help in bringing the extraordinary history of the building to life
Our tour around this Victorian treasure, and see the magnificent interiors for yourself The tour will take in the generously portioned corridors, meeting rooms and bedrooms of the hotel, all restored to the sumptuous standards the Victorians and Edwardians enjoyed. The highlight has to be the grand staircase, familiar from countless movies and, famously, the Spice Girls’ video for debut single Wannabe.
The huge gothic building in front of St Pancras Station has a name: the Renaissance London Hotel. Reopened in May 2011 after extensive refurbishment. The tour is an excellent way to view the hotel for those of us who don’t have the £900 it costs to stay overnight in the Queen Victoria Suite! Tours are led by Blue Badge guides and last 75 to 90 minutes, with stops in the most historic sections, including the staircase where the Spice Girls’ ‘ Wannabe’ video was filmed.
Historic tours of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London run during the weekends and so this is a wonderful opportunity to visit TWO historic venues in ONE day!
YOU ARE ADVISED TO BOOK YOUR PLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as this tour will sell very quickly!

What Our Customers Are Saying
Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!
We so enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday Lin, and it was a “mystery” right up until 3pm – well done. I’m so glad I found Solent Events. It’s so much more fun going with other like-minded people & takes the responsibility out of driving.
Dear Lin, Thank you for sending the photographs from ‘Collabro’ at the BIC. We had a lovely first outing with Solent Events. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it.
Hi Lin, Just a quick thank you from us both for arranging such a brilliant day yesterday. We had such a lovely time and the hi-light for us was the steam train trip! Looking forward to the next Mystery Tour
