During this 10-day coach holiday, you will be surrounded by jaw-dropping views, spectacular mountains, thundering waterfalls and glistening lakes. Scotland is a land of dramatic landscapes, highlands, grand castles and iconic cities which are steeped in history and culture.

The Western Isles will also enthral you – an archipelago comprising of hundreds of islands off the northwest coast of Scotland, divided into the Inner and Outer Hebrides. They are home to rugged landscapes, fishing villages and remote Gaelic-speaking communities – and some much appreciated, ‘away-from-it-all peace’ and quiet!.

During our homeward bound route, We will visit Edinburgh, often referred to as the ‘Athens of the North’, with its dramatic castle, elegant squares and Royal Mile, before heading south to the beautiful Yorkshire town of Harrogate.

NB. For your comfort, a maximum of 30 passengers apply to this exclusive Solent Events Tour (most coach companies normally take 45-50  passengers!).

For the comfort & fairness to all passengers during this 10-day tour, a daily rotation system for coach seating will be in operation.

On board coach facilities include: A/C, toilet, magazine rack, drop table, hostess service with homemade cakes, sweet & savoury snacks, hot & cold drinks to purchase. There will be the occasional DVD & background music when appropriate …. & lots of fun!

Day 1 – Monday 21 May
0815     Depart              Coliseum Coach Depot, Southampton – with one of our favourite coach drivers, Nigel
0900     Depart              Stokes Bay – Sailing Club Bus Shelter, Gosport
0910     Depart              Lee on the Solent
0920     Depart              Stubbington Red Lion Bus Shelter
0930     Depart              Fareham – Peak Lane

DAY 2 -Tuesday 22 May
0830                            After breakfast we will leave our hotel for the shores of Loch Lomond where we will have some free time for                                                a browse of the small selection of shops and lunch in one of the cafés overlooking the Loch. A Sealife centre and                                        Bird of Prey centre are also based here.
14:20                           Meet at the Sweeney’s Cruises dock in Balloch to board a boat for a 1 hour cruise on Loch Lomond which departs 14:30                           Cruise
1535                            Meet coach and continue our journey through dramatic Scottish scenery to the Ballachulish Hotel at the foot of                                            Glencoe for an overnight stay.
1800 approx                Arrive hotel.
1930                            Dinner in the hotel.  3-courses with choice of menu, followed by tea/coffee.

DAY 3 – Wednesday 23 May
0900                            After breakfast we will take a tour of the Glencoe area with its spectacular scenery, chairlifts and interesting                                               attractions stopping for lunch at leisure, Passing Fort William, we will travel along the shores of Lochs Eil and Eilt                                         on our way to Mallaig where we join a ferry over to Lochboisdale.
1630                           Check in ferry terminal
1730                           Ferry departs for Lochboisdale, on the Western Isle of South Uist. Dinner served on board during our crossing.
2100                           We arrive in the Hebrides and head north over the causeway to the neighbouring Isle of Benbecula.
2200                           Arrive Creagorry and the Isle of Benbecula House Hotel for two nights, with a welcome tea/coffee on arrival

DAY 4 – Thursday 24 May
Today we will have a day at leisure, giving to time to relax or explore this beautiful coastline.
The island of Benbecula is the perfect place to be in tune with nature for a couple of days. There are an abundance of birds, fauna and flora to be enjoyed, with walking and cycling being the main forms of transport. A bus stop is a couple of minutes walk away, but the service appears to be infrequent.
A car & bicycle hire company is also located a short distance from our hotel. www.askcarhire.com

1900                            Dinner in the hotel. 3-course dinner with choice of menu, followed by tea/coffee

DAY 5 – Friday 25 May
0830                            After breakfast we depart the hotel and travel travel further North through the Isle of North Uist to Berneray in the                                        Sound of Harris.
1025                            Ferry to Leverburgh, the second largest village in the Isle of Harris.
1125                            Arrive Levenburgh for FREE time to browse
1225                            Leave Levenburgh for Tarbert and a visit to the Harris Tweed shop, the Harris Distillery (with optional tour and                                            whisky tasting) and the opportunity to have lunch.
1500                            Depart Tarbert for the scenic one hour journey to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis and our next hotel for two nights.
1600                           Arrive   Cabarfeidh Hotel

1900                           Dinner in the hotel. 3-courses with choice of menu, followed by tea/coffee

DAY 6 – Saturday 26 May
0900                           We will be met at the hotel by a local guide for a full day exploring Stornoway and the surrounding area. During                                           our  tour we will visit Carloway Broch, Calanais Visitor Centre a the Callanish Standing Stones, Gearrannan                                                 Blackhouse Village and the Butt of Lewis lighthouse with a stop enroute for lunch.
After lunch we continue to the Port of Ness for views of the harbour and a look at the small artists’ gallery before                                         returning to our hotel.
1900                           Dinner in the hotel. 3-course dinner with choice of menu, followed by tea/coffee

DAY 7 – Sunday 27 May
0900                           We have the morning at leisure
1345                           Board coach for the short transfer to Stornoway ferry port and our ferry
1500                           Ferry departs for mainland Ullapool
1730                           Ferry arrives in Ullapool for our cross-country journey to Grantown-on-Spey and our next hotel.
2000                           Arrive Grant Arms Hotel

DAY 8 – Monday 28 May
0930                            After breakfast, we depart the hotel for our journey to Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Centre South Bridge Ibis Hotel                                      centrally located in the old town, just off the Royal Mile.
1330                            The afternoon will be at leisure with an ‘optional’ guided city tour with Nigel and an excellent local guide.
Approx                         The evening will be at leisure to sample the local cuisine and atmosphere of this vibrant city centre
OR                               Join Lin for a small group evening meal

DAY 9 –Tuesday 29 May
From 0400                  Ibis ‘all-you-can-eat’ continental buffet breakfast available
From 0630                  Ibis Hot & Cold Buffet breakfast available
0900                           We depart Edinburgh and leave Scotland to begin our journey South through North England towards home,                                                 stopping overnight at Harrogate and our final overnight stay – at the stately Victorian Majestic Hotel. The hotel is                                         surrounded by eight acres of gardens that overlook the town.
1400/1500                  Arrive Majestic Hotel, with welcome tea/coffee on arrival

FREE afternoon to explore Harrogate.

RELAX! An art deco Sun Pavilion can be found in the leafy Valley Gardens. 14-minute walk.
