Who are your Away-Days, Theatre Trips and Holidays aimed at?
We appeal to discerning adults of all ages, from teenagers who love top musicals at the London Theatres, to the more mature retired or early retired local individuals, male and female.
Solent Events attracts people from diverse backgrounds in the Gosport, Fareham, Southampton and Portsmouth areas, whether on their own, as a couple or with a friend/small group of friends.
Our clients normally have a passion for ‘living life to the full’, love travelling or visiting interesting and exciting places in company. They also appreciate the finer things in life and expect a top class service to match a price tag that will not break the bank!
If you normally travel independently, it’s great to let someone else take the stress and strain leaving you to enjoy your leisure time. You are free to do as you wish, with our friendly group, or on your own.
Over the past 25 years, Lin has essentially built Solent Events on trust; with her reliability, good value and meticulous attention to detail earning a continual stream of new clients by recommendations from the ‘regulars’!
Why would I choose to go with your company?
Solent Events is a local, independent travel and event company with over 25 years of leisure, business and travel experience. All trips and tours are escorted and personally organised by the owner, Lin Wilson, assuring you of a reliable, professional service at all times.
With a ‘touch of luxury’ to look forward to on every trip and tour, we are not just a Travel company, we are not a ‘budget’ travel company, we are a ‘GREAT EXPERIENCE’!
What sort of service can I expect?
From the time you book until your return, your experience will be stress-free, hassle-free and informative. Our strict personal quality control measures will guarantee that you travel in Luxury Executive coaches with excellent, professional drivers; enjoy the BEST Theatre seats; stay in 4*and 5* hotels and fly with BA or other scheduled airlines (as opposed to ‘budget airlines such as Easyjet, Flybe etc.). We also ensure that you are fed and nourished as much as possible – either on the coach, at a restaurant or pub or at an airport lounge – at a reasonable cost or with our compliments!
Most importantly, for your financial protection and peace of mind, all Short Breaks & Holidays are booked through reliable, reputable Group Tour Operators who hold ATOL, ABTA & Trust Fund certificates.
Will I get good value for money?
Most definitely! Whilst we’re not the ‘cheapest’ travel company in the area, we are the BEST and deliver ‘what we say on the tin’.

We want to ensure that you travel in total comfort, to lovely places and be treated with the same respect and friendly manner, as we would expect for ourselves.
In addition to our special attention to time-keeping, we also like to keep you informed of procedures every step of the way. For your interest and convenience, personal Itineraries and maps are supplied for every trip and tour, prior to and during the event.

I’m on my own. Do you cater for single travellers?
Solent Events is an excellent choice if you are on your own, for both ladies & gentlemen.
Not only do we offer a ‘sharing service’ if you would like to keep the cost down and to ‘find a friend’ to share with, but because 99% of clients are from our local area, you are bound to know someone on the trip, or make new, like-minded friends very quickly.
As Lin personally escorts every Trip and Tour, you will never be on your own during free time, meals or excursions – unless of course you want to be!
Will I be on the coach very long before we ‘get going’ to the destination?
No! We know this is a bone of contention with many travellers when travelling with other coach companies.
Our last pick-up is Fareham and then we are off on our journey! We pick up from just FOUR local stops, plus the coach depot where the coach leaves.
The pick-ups & drop-offs are always the same – Coliseum Coach Depot, Southampton; Gosport (Stokes Bay); Lee on the Solent (bus stop opposite the seafront shops); Stubbington (Red Lion) and lastly Fareham (Peak Lane).
Do you offer a shuttle bus service to join the main coach?
No. We feel this could easily cause delays and in turn, some irritable passengers. As we are all local, we do offer a ‘taxi share’ service if required, when clients can team up to meet the coach for a ‘Tour’ departure.
Do I have to pay in full when booking?
As a lot of work is involved in taking a deposit and chasing balance payments, full payment is preferred at time of booking, BUT please do ask if you would prefer to pay deposit to confirm your Away-Day or Theatre booking (normally around 50%). You may be on a budget or are booking several events at the same time. We do understand that not everyone has a large ‘leisure account’!
As many of the Theatre Trip and Away-Days tend to sell very quickly, please remember that all verbal/email bookings are classed as ‘provisional’ and could be sold if payment is not forthcoming within a few days. If paying by BACS, an email or message to state this fact will be beneficial in securing your place immediately.
AWAY-DAYS & THEATRE TRIPS: If a deposit is paid, the balance is due approximately 5 weeks before departure (unless stated otherwise).
TOURS: A deposit is always taken for tours, unless booked after the ‘balance due date’ (approximately 12/14 weeks before departure).
How can I pay?
ALL THEATRE TRIPS & AWAY-DAYS can be paid by BACS transfer (details on booking form), debit card (no charge), credit card (1.65% charge) or by cheque (payable to Solent Events & Leisure). Some trips may eventually be payable via the website, but otherwise a phone call or email will reserve your place and confirm your booking with full payment or a deposit if agreed. €€€
TOURS can be paid by debit card, credit card or cheque (via Solent Events but made payable to the Tour Operator concerned)
What if I have a complaint?
Of course we hope that you will not have anything to complain about, but in the unlikely event that you do, you can be assured that it will be handled promptly and personally by Lin. Whether it is something Solent Events or a ‘third party’ has slipped up on, it will be managed with the utmost care and professionalism.
What makes you different from other local coach and travel companies?
Lots of things! Mainly the professional, personal and reliable service, but we take pride in the variety and quality of the venues and destinations. We like to go somewhere ‘different’ and ‘secret’ if we can. Somewhere you may not have heard of or somewhere you have only ever dreamt of visiting. Many of the exciting Away-Days are inclusive of morning coffee, lunch, dinner, drinks, & Afternoon Tea.
Do I have to pay a membership fee to travel with you?
There is NO MEMBERSHIP FEE to join Solent Events on their many Theatre Trips, Away-Days and Tours but as from 01 May 2016 a 45s-65s Adventure Club was launched, with a joining fee of £10 (single) and £20 (couple) per year for a full 12 months.

Our current Privilege Members Club has been active since November 2009 with a maximum of 50 clients at any one time. Members pay an annual fee of £25 for solos and £45 for couples.
Privilege Club members live between Portsmouth and Southampton, book at least 4 trips per year, relish the friendships built and are lovers of escorted group travel. Our Terms & Conditions
OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS – Theatre Trips & Away-Days
YOUR CONTRACT: At the time of booking, you must complete and sign the Booking Form agreeing to accept the conditions as set out herein. Your contract is entered into on the terms and conditions of the Booking Form. The completed booking form must be received accompanied by the appropriate full payment or deposit (on request), at which time, and subject to availability, your contract will be made with us.
PAYMENT: No booking can be accepted as ‘confirmed’ unless accompanied by full payment or the agreed deposit and written/email confirmation and receipt activated by Solent Events. The correct booking form is required for each booking. Payment can be made by BACS Transfer (preferred) or by telephoning Solent Events with debit/credit card details.
PRICES: The price of your trip is subject to variation by reference to elements covering fuel, government taxes and any other additional costs not in place when the booking was made. The company will however, absorb up to 2% of any increase in the price of your trip attributed to any such items and no surcharges will be made less than SEVEN days before the stipulated departure date.
INSURANCE: It is a condition of all bookings with the company that adequate personal insurance is taken out by all clients, with the exception of 1-day trips.
FITNESS TO TRAVEL: It is a booking condition that you should be fit and completely well to travel. We strive to give all our clients full care and attention, but we need to know at the time of booking about any special needs or requirements, especially if you need specialist equipment, such as a wheelchair/mobility scooter (if available) on site. Unfortunately many of our trips are unsuitable for wheelchair users. If you have suffered from a serious medical condition recently, you should consult a doctor about your fitness to travel.
CHANGING YOUR BOOKING: If you need to change any of the arrangements specified on the booking form, we will do all we can to accommodate your new requirements. An alteration fee of £10 per person may be charged for any change to cover administration costs, except in the period prior to 6 weeks of departure, when the alteration will be free of charge.
CANCELLATIONS: If you need to cancel your trip after your booking has been confirmed, you must inform the company in writing as soon as possible.
IF YOU WISH TO CANCEL, OUR CANCELLATION CHARGE TO YOU:

CANCELLATIONS OR AMENDMENTS BY US: Trips are based on an economic minimum number of passengers. Should this not be reached, it may be necessary to either: a) cancel the service and refund any monies paid, or b) levy a surcharge on those still requiring the service.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPANY: All tickets issued and arrangements made in connection with this trip are made by the company as agents and not as principal. The company accepts no liability for any death, injury, damage, loss, accident or delay arising from any act or default of any person or any matter arising in connection with the trip, and the company makes no warranty or representation in connection therewith. Any accommodation and transport are provided subject to local laws. Personal property is at owner’s risk.
FORCE MAJEURE: Solent Events shall not be liable for any delay or failure in performing any of its obligations if such a delay or failure is caused by circumstances outside the reasonable control of the company (including without limitation any delay caused by any act or default by the other party).
LAW AND JURISDICTION: The contract between the Company and the Client incorporating these booking conditions, and our booking confirmation shall be governed by the English law and both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
TOURS Terms & Conditions
YOUR TOUR CONTRACT
Your tour has been organised by the Groups department of a reputable Tour Company, who are fully bonded for your protection.
At the time of booking, you must complete the Online Booking Form or complete and sign a hard-copy Booking Form agreeing to accept the conditions as herein set out. Your contract is entered into on the terms and conditions of the Booking Form. The completed booking form must be received accompanied by the appropriate deposit payment or full payment payable to the appropriate Tour Operator, at which time, and subject to availability, your contract with them is made.

PAYMENT: No booking can be accepted unless accompanied by the full payment or specified deposit to the appropriate Tour Operator (to secure your place) with the balance being paid strictly by date on booking form.
FITNESS TO TRAVEL: It is a booking condition that you should be fit and well to travel. We strive to give all our clients full care & attention, but we need to know at the time of booking about any special needs or requirements. Unfortunately, our coaches & most of our trips are not suitable for wheelchair users. If you have suffered from a serious medical condition recently, you should consult a doctor about your fitness to travel.
PRICES: Prices for tours are valid at time of going to press. The price of your tour is subject to variation by reference to elements covering tunnel costs, fuel, taxes and exchange rates if applicable. The company will however, absorb up to 2% of any increase in the price of your tour attributed to any such items and no surcharges will be made less than ten days before the stipulated departure date unless absolutely unavoidable.
INSURANCE: It is a condition of all bookings with the company that adequate personal insurance is taken out by all clients and appropriate to the part of the world being visited.
CHANGING YOUR BOOKING: If you need to change any of the arrangements specified on the booking form, we will do all we can to accommodate your new requirements. An alteration fee of £25 per person may be charged for any change to cover administration costs, except in the period prior to 6 weeks of departure, when the alteration will be free of charge.
AMENDMENTS BY US: This tour is normally based on an economic minimum number of 29 passengers. Should this not be reached, it may be necessary to either:
a). cancel the service and refund any monies paid, or,
b). levy a surcharge on those still requiring the service.
The company reserves the right to alter the quoted hotel accommodation to hotels of the same grade, or the tour itinerary, as necessary.
CANCELLATIONS: If you need to cancel your tour after your booking has been confirmed, you must inform the company in writing as soon as possible. All deposit payments made to the company are deemed non-refundable, and an administrative cost may be added. After the balance has been paid, up to 100% of the cost may be incurred if travel is cancelled less than six weeks before departure. These payments may be claimed from your insurance company.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPANY: All tickets issued and arrangements made in connection with this tour are made by the company as ‘agents’ and not as ‘principal’.
The principal for this holiday will be the Tour Operator stated on your booking form. The company accepts no liability for death, injury, damage, loss, accident or delay arising from any act or default of any person or any matter arising in connection with the tour, and the company makes no warranty or representation in connection therewith. Accommodation and transport are provided subject to local laws. Personal property is at owner’s risk unless insured. All our Group Tour Operators are fully bonded for your financial protection & peace of mind.
